Christopher Green - Toy Town

Date
27 Jun 2015 To 02 Jul 2015

'Toy Town’ is a celebration of the classic model and cinematic indulgence that we all love, together with the beauty that hyperrealism can expose in the everyday of these objects. Lego figures and toy robots are put under a microscope, their details blown up to create monumental, bold and indulgent paintings that celebrate gaming and our childlike, enchanting imagination.

The term hyper-realism appeared in the early 1970s to describe a resurgence of particularly high fidelity realism in sculpture and painting at that time.

This exhibition in captures the work of Nottingham artist Christopher Green.

The display will be modest, however Christopher’s ability to capture detail is astonishing and therefore this show is a must see event! Contact us george@georgethorntonart.com for details. Please note the gallery is closed the Sunday however we are open Monday 29th June.

Jan Nelson – Solo Exhibition

Date
30 May 2015 To 05 Jun 2015

You must spend time with Jan’s paintings; on the surface they are erratic splashes of colour, but like the layers they are made from, there is so much depth to these works – they contemplate not only artifice, but also the natural versus the man-made. Simple strips of abstract colour make up enigmatic compositions!

Come and be the first to witness this breath taking collection. Contact us for details – george@georgethorntonart.com
