{Ed Chapman}

Ed Chapman is one of the UK's leading mosaic artists. His style is instantly recognisable achieving incredible detail through hours of painstaking effort. His portraits in ceramic tiles are constructed often with up to 2,000 fragments, each carefully hand-cut and placed.

The subject matter ranges from iconic film and music legends to portraits of anonymous, beautiful women. He has also created unusual mosaic sculpture, mosaic sugar cubes, and more recently copper coins. Ed has studied the technique of mosaic in depth and attempts to bring the ancient medium into the 21st Century with use of colour and contemporary subjects. The medium produces striking results, particularly with portraits, where the effects are dramatic and impressive. The work is never finished until the last piece is in place; there is no room for error.

Ed's work is held in collections worldwide and is currently being exhibited across the UK, Europe, New York and Hong Kong.
