{Jeff Childs}
Jeff born and raised in London moved to Nottingham in the early 80’s where he lives and works today.
Despite having followed the traditional route by way of art college at the age of nineteen, Jeff did not discover his true talent and identiy of the arts until much later in life. He focused his career in design, financials, and later he gained a degree in psychology and sociology together with further counselling qualifications.
This has subsequently enabled Jeff to complete a circle, his work having both studied the person from within - how we are motivated and interact personally and socially - to currently how we can be represented externally through sculpture.
The sculptural process involves both collaboration with others and using my own artistic skills in order to produce each unique piece. He works closely with life models who bring their own feminine perspective and input, rather than just passively reacting to his direction. Also, Jeff interacts with the bronze foundry in resolving various technical details and in deciding the overall appearance of the sculpture, such as the colour and tone of the surface patination. Jeff works with British foundries to help sustain industries within our country.
In attempting to capture the uniqueness of spirit, energy and sensuality of each female form, Jeff will continue to work, carve and polish the completed bronze work giving each piece a distinct aesthetic.
