Manchester based artist, John Squire has, over the past twenty-five years, consistently developed his aesthetic from his early enquiries into the layering and texture of paint to a more reductive exploration of form. Following a major retrospective exhibition in 2004 at the prestigious Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA), London, Squire has continued to exhibit his artwork globally.

John Squire's career as a visual artist has always taken its own trajectory, developing independently from his musical celebrity status. His focused, consistent Abstract output now demands attention throughout the art world. Working with mixed media, the paintings are built up of layers of pastel, pencil and oil paint, which he incorporates language into taken from snapshots of conversations, forming shallow cut up narratives in the work.

John’s work hangs in public and private collections worldwide and is now receiving critical acclaim aided by sell out shows in Manchester, London and Japan.
