{Pete Mckee}

Pete Mckee, born 1966, grew up on a Sheffield council estate.  He is a cartoonist and has exhibited regularly around the north of England. Using bright colours his larger than life, often humorous characters inhabit a world of working men's clubs, bingo halls and family trips to the seaside. Football is also heavily featured in his work. Pete started drawing for the local paper which in turn acted as a spring board to paint commercially full time, however it wasn’t until 2004 that he began to take the art world by storm!

McKee opened his first ever London show, entitled ‘Lost Weekends’ in 2007. It was a huge success after which he was commissioned by Acme studios to interpret characters from The Simpsons and Family Guy.

In 2007 McKee was commissioned by Oasis to paint Noel as part of Gibson Guitar’s “Guitar Town” show. McKee painted a portrait onto a 10 foot fiberglass guitar which was displayed as part of the open air exhibition on London’s South Bank.
 
Pete counts Paul Smith and the Gallagher’s as celebrity collectors and is now enjoying fame both here and in the US.
