With no particular artistic influences during his youth, Russell went on to pursue a career in bespoke vehicle building and repairs. Working for himself, he had the freedom to experiment with materials; it was then that he began to indulge his ever growing passion for visual art.

Russell has developed an intricate understanding of the materials he works with, thus realising it's creative potential beyond industrial use. His extensive knowledge and skill with high-tech commercial paints allows him to create abstract works with colours and a surface never before seen!

Acrylic, water-based metallic, xyrallic, pearlescent and holographic paints are applied over an aluminium surface. The paint is layered several times, often with lacquer between layers, and immaculately polished by hand. This creates a richness that cannot be achieved with traditional paints. Russell's application of paint has proved him to be a master of colour. This pursuit of colour results in a visual experience that is truly unique. It’s this individuality that has won him collectors and sell out shows all over the world.
