James Youngerman uses bold colours and simple imagery to create modern pop art with delightfully suggestive text.

Drawing on the pop art style of Roy Lichtenstein and Bridget Riley, James is keen to explore the possibilities of using erotica and gothic images in his work as inspiration - images not normally associated with the pop art style.

Influenced by everything from comic books to advertising slogans, James’s work encompasses striking bold word art and cartoon style paintings as well as the modern pop art portraits on canvas he calls ‘Super Pop’.
A fan of Peter Blake, James’s first London exhibition was at a group show that also included not only Blake but also Tracey Emin, David Nash and others.
