Collage (in the form of dried oil paint on old telephone directory paper), is an important element in my paintings and often forms the basis of a new piece.  Using collage I can push my work in an unpredictable direction and is often where I find paint at its most exciting. 

The quality of the paper suits my needs and I love the poetry of painting pictures of people within lists of names and numbers!  Using brushes and palette knives I paint on MDF board as this surface is robust enough to allow for scraping, scratching, gluing and generally doing whatever is needed to get to the finish I am after!
