Painting under a pseudonym, he explains: 'Operating under a pseudonym is vital to me. I want the attention to focus on the process - the emotions, methods, chronology of the marks - not on the person.' With a style reminiscent of Action painting, popular during the American Abstract Expressionism movement of the 1940's and 50's, the canvas is aged and typically of large, statement-making scale. Oscar uses a combination of acrylics, enamel and household paints applied using hands and a wide array of implements such as sticks spatulas, sports bats and spears to throw, smear and drip the media. The works are a residue of mixed emotions - from anger and desperation to playful and carefree.
