Artist
Kieran Crowder is a unique and innovative painter who also has a background in engineering science and analytic philosophy. His diverse interests are seamlessly integrated into his practice, leading one early critic to describe his approach as "thinking in paint."
Alongside his art, Crowder is fascinated by the social and psychological aspects of art production and reception, as well as the histories of violence and cultural change. He is driven by the profound question of what it means to be human in a world that seems to be growing more barbaric. Drawing and painting have been a lifelong passion for Crowder, and he has been greatly influenced by two important mentors. The first, Nick Samsworth, helped him develop his understanding of paint and its possibilities. The second, Miles Richmond, who was a pupil of the renowned David Bomberg and a founding member of the influential Borough Group, provided historical insights and a personal perspective on Bomberg's teachings. The experience of breaking down Bomberg's concept of the spirit in the mass with Richmond has had a profound impact on Crowder's own artistic journey.”
