Artist
Corrina is a Nottingham based artist originally from Rochdale, Lancashire. Self-taught and raised by artist parents, her background is in textiles and digital illustration.
Painting has always played a part in her creativity and is now her sole focus. Working with acrylics on canvas and wooden panel, Rothwell’s evocative paintings carve a path between abstract and figurative with figures silhouetted against painterly landscape-like backgrounds.
Transferred images taken from her own photographs of buildings and elements of nature create a tension between the urban and rural, reflecting the industrial moorland environment of her childhood. The faceless, ambiguous figures invite the viewer to weave their own narratives about memory, identity, and connection to the environment.
