Having been on the art scene for nearly 10 years Jameson Robinson has established himself as a talented and versatile artist. Jameson uses various techniques, quite often painting an original by hand and then using stencil to repeat its use or alternative designs and backgrounds. His medium is acrylic but he mixes in rust pigments, metallic colours for ageing effects.

Jameson started painting London bricks for fun in 2014 to make them look like Lego! Over time he started including imagery as a way to breathe new life into the solid material and as he describes:

“The London brick is a strong and enduring symbol of urban life. It has rough or smooth surfaces and is functional in its form, but it has a simplistic beauty that belies its strength and consistency. This is what makes the hand painted bricks so special, they ́re original and ironically no two are the same”

In 2018 during a visit to the Falkland Islands an interest in penguins was ignited and they started to appear on his bricks in the form of the iconic Penguin books logo. Penguins are now a firm favourite with Jameson’s followers and he is well-known for their inclusion in his works.

During the first lockdown in 2020 bricks weren’t so readily available so he turned his attention to cardboard boxes that he had had beer delivered in! Jameson was now painting between brick, cardboard, canvas and anything else that he could find.

Jameson uses various techniques, quite often painting an original by hand and then using stencil to repeat its use or alternative designs and backgrounds.
